took part in the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean in Serbia.

During the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean and the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy. According to this Memorandum the organizations grant each other observer status, experience, and good practice will be exchanged in the following areas: promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue and cooperation; confronting threats of extremism and radicalism; development of a regulatory framework in the areas of migration, citizenship, development and protection of human rights, democracy and the rule of law; support of civil society institutions in the field of social solidarity, charity and humanitarian activities.

Following the event, the delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, headed by the President of the organization Sergei Gavrilov, met with the leadership of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The participants of the meeting discussed issues of disarmament, the non-deployment of medium-range and short-range missiles in Europe, the protection of the rights of Christians, in particular in Ukraine, as well as the development of active peacemaking and social assistance.

During the meeting, Sergei Gavrilov noted that ”Russia remembers the civilians who died after the bombing of Yugoslavia by NATO aircraft.“

According to the parliamentarian, “it was interference in domestic issues under the pretence of humanitarian intervention, and the system of international law was broken.”
