The delegation of the Russian Federation headed by Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin took part in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, officially assumed the office of the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil on Tuesday, January 1.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the capital of the country on the Three Powers Plaza. It began with the passage of the Presidential cortege by the Brasilia Cathedral. Then the President, accompanied by the chairmen of both chambers of the Brazilian parliament, went to the building of the National Congress, where he swore an oath in which he promised to observe and defend the country's Constitution and work for the benefit of the Brazilian people.
The ceremony ended at the Presidential Palace (Planalto Palace), from which balcony the President addressed the nation.
This year, 39 foreign delegations took part in the inauguration ceremony, including heads of eight states and governments, five parliamentary delegations, foreign ministers of three countries and the US Secretary of State.
Jair Bolsonaro, who represents the Social Liberal Party, won the second round of the presidential elections in Brazil, which took place on October 28. He received over 55% of the votes.
Today, Chairman of the State Duma also held meetings with the head of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Brazil Rodrigo Maia and President of the Congress of Deputies of Spain Ana Pastor. The topic of discussions was the further strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations.
