The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
reminded that the task of abolition of roaming between
Russia and Belarus was set by the Presidents of the two countries, Vladimir
Putin and Alexander Lukashenko. “How we can explain to citizens of our
countries that those who live in the border areas will still be charged because
of roaming when the roaming in Russia has already been abolished and the State
Duma and the Federation Council approved the relevant law. Should we take a step within the framework of the Union State in this direction? ” Chairman of the State Duma addressed the government representatives, stressing that it is
necessary to implement the decision that people are waiting for.
“No one has cancelled parliamentary control over the implementation of presidential orders. We should address the presidents because such executive discipline is unacceptable,” Viacheslav Volodin told Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus Konstantin Shulgan.
Chairman of the State Duma stressed that the governmental representatives of the two countries would have to report to the parliamentarians on the implementation of the decision to abolish roaming between Russia and Belarus within a month.
“One month will be enough to finally figure it out. During this period, an interim hearing should be held and then inform members of the Parliamentary Assembly. Our task is to give impetus to colleagues from the executive branch to resolve this issue, taking into account the request of citizens of our countries and, most importantly, based on the decisions of the heads of states,” Viacheslav Volodin instructed.
The “government hour” has been held for the first time at the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State, this is a new format of work of the Union State parliamentarians.
