commented on the information about links between accounts in social networks about protests in France and the Russian Federation.

“The most surprising thing is that when they talk about our meddling in the presidential elections in the USA, they say that there have been created some accounts – where they can be found, who has done it? If there are Russian family names, there is an immediate conclusion that is Russian trail. But this may be a provocation — specially created accounts to show links with Russia,” Svetlana Zhurova said.

The parliamentarian stressed that all these things associated with the reports of Russia's involvement in the situation in France sound like “absolute rumors” that “are rather strange”.

“No matter what happens in the world, what kind of events, especially those like protests or some moments that the authorities of this country do not support in one way or another, Russia is responsible for it,” Ms. Zhurova added.

Earlier, The Times newspaper provided information that many accounts linked to Russia had been created and contained a lot of messages about protest actions in France. Also, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that the Secretariat-General for National Defence and Security of France is investigating the alleged involvement of the Russian Federation in protest activity in the country.
