According to Leonid Slutskiy, the incident may be connected with the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine.
“The first thing that comes to mind is the connection of this action with the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine. The situation for [Petr] Poroshenko is unfavorable, it is possible that he uses this provocation and the subsequent imposition of a state of emergency to cancel or postpone the election. I can't rule it out. Some leaks from Kiev say the same thing,” said the member of the State Duma.
“We will not give in to these provocations. I am sure that the situation will be resolved,” he concluded.
On Sunday, November 25, according to the Federal Security Service of Russia, the ships of the Ukrainian Naval Forces violated the Russian state border, and in the evening they again attempted to carry out illegal actions within the territorial sea of the Russian Federation. There was no reaction to the legal requirements of the FSB and the Black Sea Fleet border guards ships and boats escorting them.
