Aleksei Chepa: the British authorities need the Skripals case to divert public attention from country’s internal conflicts

The Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs commented on the Scotland Yard’s publication of new videos with “suspects” of an attempt to kill the former GRU officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter. He called it “absolutely empty information, not supported by anything and not proving anything”

“They just suck some information out of a thumb. Well, they found something on some cameras … Obviously, this is absolutely empty information, not supported by anything and not proving anything,” he said.

 also added that the British authorities need the Skripals case to divert public attention from the country’s internal conflicts.

“We stated from the very beginning that a lot of the problems that blown out of proportion in the United States, in the United Kingdom, and in some other countries are related to the domestic political situation. In order to divert the attention of their citizens, voters, the authorities are trying to inflate some new hysteria,” the member of the State Duma concluded.

Earlier, Scotland Yard published new videos with the ”suspects“ in the Skripals case. Photos of the bottle, which allegedly contained a toxic substance, with which Skripals were poisoned, were also published.
