The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
noted that “it will be very important for us today to discuss a number of issues that not only concern us but, most importantly, we have prepared them and have discussed them for a long time.”
“This all will certainly help not only to develop our relations within the parliamentary dimension but, most importantly it will definitely play its role in solving the tasks of the Collective Security Treaty Organization that unites our countries,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
Viacheslav Volodin also welcomed Dastan Jumabekov, the new Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, who participates in a meeting of the PA Council of the CSTO for the first time.
Furthermore, he noted that ”we already have a good tradition, we invite observers to our meetings who participate in our work.“ “The delegation today is represented by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, as well as by representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
The agenda of the PA CSTO meeting includes consideration of model draft laws of the participating countries, as well as the definition of a single list of organizations recognized as terrorist. The participants of the Parliamentary Assembly also intend to discuss issues of coordination of interaction on international parliamentary platforms.
Heads of parliaments of the CSTO member states take part in the meeting: President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ara Babloyan, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Dastan Jumabekov, and a delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as a delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia, which participates as an observer.
