Members of the State Duma discussed the joint fight against cybercrime with CSTO Parliamentary Assembly colleagues

, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control, stated during the meeting, “cyber-terrorism and cyber-crime do not know boundaries, and only joint efforts can be effective”.

“Our Internet resources are subject to increasing number of cyber attacks from abroad, the Internet is actively used to advertise drugs and promote terrorism, to involve minors in illegal activities,” he added.

“Parliamentarians of the CSTO countries need to unite efforts and step up their work on countering cybercrime,” said Vasilii Piskarev.

The parliamentarian proposed to hold a roundtable on the basis of the State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control to discuss ”these problems that are common for our countries and outline cooperation measures”.

The issues of military cooperation, exchange of experience in countering international terrorism and extremism in the Central Asian region will be discussed during the field session of the Coordination Meeting of the Chairmen of the Defense and Security Committees (Commissions) of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member-States in the framework of the PA CSTO Council, which is being held in the Kyrgyz Republic on October 12–13.

Parliamentarians of the CSTO countries will visit the “Ulan” testing center, will participate as observers in a command-and-staff exercise with military contingents of the CSTO “Cooperation-2018” Collective Rapid Reaction Forces and will meet the heads of the exercises. Meetings will also be held with the leadership of the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic.
