The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
noted that such a format as the Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliament is in great demand and is becoming
more representative.
”This format allows us to discuss various issues of the current agenda. Today, the priority issue that we plan to discuss is the development of economic relations,“ he said. Viacheslav Volodin added that the agenda includes issues related to strengthening international institutions, such as the UN, WTO, and the issue of environmental protection.
He paid special attention to the fight against terrorism.
”This is the topic that cannot leave us indifferent and we believe that it should be on the agenda, and it is extremely important for us, not only within the Eurasian countries, but in general, we should do everything to have a world without wars, crises and we will be able to develop approaches that would allow us to fight terrorism together,“ Chairman of the State Duma said.
Viacheslav Volodin noted that the format of the Meeting is becoming more popular and representative.
”The number of participants has almost doubled compared to last year's meeting in Seoul,“ he said.
Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Binali Yildirim noted the significance of the meeting of parliamentary leaders of different countries, emphasizing that the Meeting of Speakers ”is becoming a very important event at the international level.“ According to him, meetings are becoming more representative from time to time:“ We are seeking opportunities to address our common issues, global and regional, at such a high level.“
