noted that the statement by the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands looks like a ”populist attempt to fit into the topical news agenda“.

If cybercrimes, as well as other types of crime, are revealed certain procedural steps shall be done, including detention and investigation, but not immediate expulsion, as was stated by the Dutch. And the reasons why this event was not known by the general public for almost half a year are not obvious, the parliamentarian believes.

“Considering the fact that the Russian side has repeatedly expressed readiness to work together on cybersecurity issues, the competent authorities of the Netherlands should have immediately contacted their Russian colleagues to conduct an objective and effective investigation,” he stated.

Earlier, the media reported that according to Minister of Defense of the Netherlands Ank Bijleveld, the Netherlands expelled four Russians who allegedly attempted to carry out a hacker attack on the servers of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
