arrived in Azerbaijan,
where Russian parliamentarians took part in a commemirative meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Parliament of Azerbaijan. Mr. Neverov noted active
cooperation between two countries, in particular, at parliamentary level.
”Cooperation between Russian and Azerbaijani parliamentarians has a long history which began in 1906 in the State Duma in St. Petersburg, where the Muslim faction headed by Alimardan-Bek Topchubashev actively worked. ()…“Our parliamentary cooperation is successfully developing in the modern conditions, when we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan,“ Mr. Neverov said.
He stressed that for today the partnership is constantly being strengthened under the leadership of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Parliamentarians also contribute to the cooperation, the politician added.
Russian parliamentarians
will also hold several meetings with Azerbaijani authorities and discuss the strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties. It should be noted that the delegation also includes the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Issues of the Commonwealth of Independent States and Contacts with Fellow Countryman Leonid Kalashnikov

Alimardan-bek Alakbar oglu Topchubashev (May 4, 1863, Tiflis — November 8, 1934, Paris) was an Azerbaijani public and state figure, lawyer and journalist, member of the first State Duma of Russia (1906), Chairman of the Parliament of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918–1920).
