Earlier the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that 12 states, including the United States, were invited to participate in the consultations on Afghanistan, which will be held in Moscow on September 4. The leadership of the political office of the Taliban movement in Doha has been also invited to the meeting. A representative of the State Department said that the US will not participate in the meeting on Afghanistan, as they do not consider such format to be effective.

”For obvious reasons, the US refuses to come to Moscow, because in this case the initiative (will be with the Russian Federation), and, so to speak, if the result is positive, it will be clear that this decision has been achieved thanks to Moscow … The US is used to dictating, in their interests the decisions of many questions, and they are trying to consider everything from the position of power and their internal struggle,“ Aleksei Chepa Chepa Alexey Vasilievich Chepa

told to RIA Novosti.

The parliamentarian also called the upcoming Moscow consultations as important and revealing, adding that many issues cannot be resolved without the participation of the Russian Federation.

”Everybody clearly understands, especially in the Middle East and Central Asia, that nothing can be resolved without the participation of Russia. Russia has always insisted on resolving the issues at the negotiating table, if it is possible to negotiate with these people and they want it. And this is the case when all parties are interested in solving this problem, therefore it is very indicative and very important,“ Chepa said.

The Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan was established in 2017. Special representatives of Russia, Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Iran and India participate in it.
