Viacheslav Volodin: Russian and Azerbaijani parliaments will ensure the realization of decisions of the presidents
During a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Duma Viaсheslav Volodin gave an interview to the channel “AZTV”

for development of interparliamentary relations. We hope that
the visit’s outcome will be the achievement of agreements that
will allow them to be brought to the inter-regional level within
the framework of the parliamentary dimension and give
an impulse to the development of general relations between

He reminded that the visit to Azerbaijan is the first one for the delegation of the State Duma of the seventh convocation, and the parliamentarians of both countries have to resolve many issues posed by the presidents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“The heads of our states meet quite often, they discuss crucial issues, the development of our relations. The task of parliaments is to provide legislative support for agreements achieved at the level of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Therefore, this is also a priority in our work,” Viacheslav Volodin stressed.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma, it is necessary to consider the issue of holding a joint conference in 2019 within the framework of interregional cooperation. It is also necessary to intensify the interaction of the committees of the parliaments of Russia and Azerbaijan. Viacheslav Volodin noted that “the delegation includes the heads of profile committees, chairmen of regional legislative assemblies of the Republic of Dagestan and Stavropol Region. We have huge potential, and it is necessary to use it: to find solutions that our peoples are waiting for”.
In an interview to “AZTV,” Viacheslav Volodin reminded that Azerbaijan is a Russian strategic partner, and only last year the trade turnover between Russia and Azerbaijan grew by more than 30%. The flow of Russian tourists to Azerbaijan has increased — it reached 850 thousand people, which is 18% more than last year.
“This is a very good indicator, based on the attitude of our citizens, it means that our citizens like to come to Azerbaijan, they feel welcomed,” Viacheslav Volodin stressed.
During the official visit of the State Duma delegation to Azerbaijan, State Duma Chairman Viacheslav Volodin held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov.
