in Caracas.
Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed congratulations from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Nicolás Maduro on his victory in the elections and his official swearing in, as well as good wishes for successful work for the benefit of the citizens of the Republic.
He recalled that the members of the State Duma were the international observers and monitored the process of expression of the will of the citizens of Venezuela.
According to Vyacheslav Volodin, the elections “were competitive and legitimate”, despite “unprecedented pressure on voters, on the sovereign development of Venezuela, from the United States and countries supporting Washington”.
The development of relations between Russia and Venezuela, including at the parliamentary level, was also discussed at the meeting. “Your contribution to the development of the parliamentary dimension is huge, this is important for us and help understand each other better,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.
On behalf of Vladimir Putin, the Chairman of the State Duma arrived in Venezuela, where he represented Russia at the inauguration ceremony, which was held on January 10.
