The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
took part in the ceremony of the swearing in of the President-elect of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro. The leaders and representatives of the countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia
were among the foreign guests of the official ceremony.
The ceremony was held in Caracas in the building of the National Assembly of Venezuela. The President-elect was sworn in in front of members of parliament, as well as representatives of the Government, the public and foreign delegations.
After swearing in, the elected President of Venezuela noted that he would continue to work for the benefit and in the interests of the people of the country. “I will ensure compliance with all obligations provided for by the Constitution and laws of the Republic. The new presidential term will be a period of prosperity, equality and new democracy,” said Nicolás Maduro.
He also welcomed the “special representative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin” at the inauguration ceremony – the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. After his speech, Nicolás Maduro approached the Chairman of the State Duma, shook his hand and thanked him for coming to Venezuela. In turn, Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed congratulations from the Russian leader Vladimir Putin to Nicolás Maduro.
On the day of the ceremony, many citizens of the Republic went outside to the streets of the capital to support Nicolás Maduro, the policy pursued by the Venezuelan authorities, despite international pressure and US attempts to isolate Venezuela.
After the inauguration, when Vyacheslav Volodin went out into the street, the citizens of Venezuela warmly greeted the representative of Russia.
