“People of Venezuela have elected their president. The current authorities sought to find compromises, to conduct dialogue with all participants in the elections, and negotiate with the United States of America, that promised to lift the sanctions regime if the US-supported opposition had been allowed to participate in the elections,” posted the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

on his Telegram channel. According to him, the elections were held on these terms, but the result differed from what Washington expected.

“We all see the outcomes – protests in Caracas, attempts to destabilize the situation in the country by the hands of the opposition sponsored by the White House,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma and added that “the US is doing this for only one reason — its protege lost.”

“People voted for the current leader — President Maduro. By the way, according to our observers, he won legitimately with a small margin,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.

“The current situation in Venezuela should make us understand: Washington plays by its own rules, which goal is to maintain hegemony and expand its influence. Any result other than the victory of its candidate is unacceptable to the US,” he added.

“Lies, provocations, double standards, achieving goals by someone else's hands, interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states are integral methods of the policy of the United States of America,” concluded the Chairman of the State Duma.
