Committee has prepared a draft law on the withdrawal of ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. At the beginning of the plenary meeting,
Vyacheslav Volodin recalled that earlier that issue had been discussed at the meeting of the Council of the State Duma and all factions supported the adoption of the draft law.
Vyacheslav Volodin invited all members of the State Duma to be the authors of the initiative.
“For 23 years we have been waiting for Washington to ratify the Treaty. What is it? Just double standards, meanness and irresponsible attitude. There are no other words to call this situation. In this case, we should be guided only by the interests of the citizens of our country, our state. Therefore, there is a proposal to withdraw the ratification,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.
The State Duma will consider the bill in the first reading next week, on October 17. The bill can be considered in the second reading on October 18, in the third reading – October 19.
Vyacheslav Volodin said that the USA was dealing with global security issues in an irresponsible way. He noted that, in particular, the situation in Israel and Palestine “was its area of responsibility, the USA had to do everything to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East. There is a real war there right now.”
”If we talk about the situations in other parts of the world, everything is also burning, and it is its fault,” added the Chairman of the State Duma.
“As for Washington and Brussels, they should think about the consequences, what double standards could lead to in general. Our technologies are developing in various fields, they should understand it too. They should think about maintaining global security, bear responsibility, but if they do not do this, we must care about our citizens,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.
“Our country stands for peaceful existence, for global security. But you and I see the real situation in the world. Therefore, it is necessary to protect our citizens from the consequences of such actions,” he concluded.
