an official reception was held at the Embassy of China in Moscow to mark the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. After the speech of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's
Republic of China to the Russian Federation Zhang Hanhui, the First Deputy
Chairman of the State Duma, head of the Russia-China Friendship Society Ivan
Melnikov

addressed the meeting participants.
“All of us, both representatives of Russia and China, have a unique opportunity to live and work at a time of flourishing relations between Russia and China. And our relations are at its highest level, just as they have never been before. For everyone who devotes their personal and professional lives to Russian-Chinese relations, this is true happiness,” said the parliamentarian.
According to Ivan Melnikov, “for more than 20 years, our relationship has been comprehensive, trusting, and strategic. This is diplomatic language. But recently, we ourselves, and our nations, and other nations of the world have realized more clearly, better, more deeply understood the real meaning of these words, their decisive significance for many processes on the planet. The meaning is positive.”
“Of course, the instability of the international situation caused by the aggressive agony of a unipolar world creates new challenges for everyone. But by overcoming them, we will see the road to a new multipolar world. And our cooperation in the conditions of new challenges has not only survived, but is also enhancing,” emphasized the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.
The political cooperation, which main driver is the relationship between the leaders of Russia and China, is effectively supplemented by interaction within international formats. And there is a lot of evidence of the attractiveness of the approaches: from the BRICS expansion to widespread support for the opinions at the UN, according to Ivan Melnikov. “By the way, the American media recently showed interesting figures. Experts calculated that over the past 30 years, when the views of Russia and China were different from the position of Washington, in 86% of cases the majority of countries supported Russia and China,” he added.
In turn, the economic cooperation, as the parliamentarian noted, “has been confidently passing the tests of sanctions, reaching new heights, and the set goals are achieved ahead of schedule. Of course, there are still issues that require additional attention. This is the strengthening of transport, logistics and customs accessibility, this is an increase in the volume of foreign investment, this is the enhancement of technological and scientific cooperation.”
“However, taking into account the new opportunities that have appeared after the political withdrawal of Western companies from markets that were profitable for them, I am convinced that all the gaps will be filled, and the existing potential of our partnership will be realized,” said the parliamentarian.
“The success of our relations is undeniable. And their quality and scale are not a coincidence. This is the result of the constant work of many people, including those who are here today,” emphasized Ivan Melnikov. “The unprecedentedly high level of Russian-Chinese relations cannot be taken for granted. Yes, their level mirror the logic of life. But constant efforts must be made to maintain and improve them. And modern Russian-Chinese relations, entering a new era, are not just words and numbers, they involve all of us,” he added.
The First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma recalled the words of the Chinese President Xi Jinping: “Chinese-Russian ties have gone far beyond the scope of bilateral relations and are of vital importance for the modern world order and the future of mankind.”
“This is an important thought and a very important motivation for our work. Today, being a part of the monolith of Russian-Chinese relations is an honor and responsibility. The results of our work go far beyond the borders of our states, the entire Eurasian region, and the present-day realities. They largely shape the future of the planet,” concluded Ivan Melnikov.
