Participants of the round table discussion “Development of humanitarian ties between Russia and Latin America: contribution of the parliaments” noted the importance of development of cooperation in such fields as healthcare, science and higher education, sport and culture. “The development of humanitarian ties is at the core of all other aspects of cooperation,” emphasized the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov. 16:00. The Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin met with the President of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Jorge Rodríguez Gómez. The speakers discussed issues of development of interparliamentary relations between Russia and Venezuela and signed an agreement on cooperation between the State Duma and the National Assembly of Venezuela. 14:30. During the meeting with the President of the Chamber of Senators of the Plurinational State of Bolivia Andrónico Rodríguez Ledezma, Vyacheslav Volodim thanked the Bolivian colleagues for their support.

in his speech that the arrival of delegations from Latin American countries to take part in the International Parliamentary Conference “Russia — Latin
America” demonstrates the willingness of the states of the region to develop a mutually beneficial partnership with Russia.
“Representatives of legislative authorities and leaders of various political parties, heads of public organizations, experts and diplomats from many Latin American countries gathered today in Moscow. The arrival of a representative group of legislators from Latin America, expressing the will of their constituents and who should work in their interests, is additional evidence of the willingness of the nations to develop a comprehensive mutually beneficial partnership,” said Vladimir Putin.
The President of the Russian Federation is convinced that the intensification of direct dialogue at the parliamentary level offers very good opportunities for deepening cooperation and enhancing it through new areas of joint activity.

On September 29 — October 2, the First International Parliamentary Conference “Russia – Latin America” was held in Moscow at the initiative of the State Duma. More than 200 participants, including parliamentarians from different countries of Latin America and the Caribbean Region, representatives of the expert community, public figures and diplomats took part in the Conference. They discussed with their Russian colleagues relevant issues of the international parliamentary agenda.
