Vyacheslav Volodin: the Council of the State Duma to consider draft on recognition of LPR and DPR next week

Gennady Andreyevich submitted a draft to the State Duma addressed to the President of the Russian Federation calling for recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Proponents of the initiative are convinced that people living there should be protected from “external threats and the genocidal policy implementation”.

He stressed that the issue that should be considered “is very important and crucial”. 

“In this regard, it would be right to hold discussions on this initiative with leaders of the factions next week. And only then we should consider this issue at the meeting of the Council of the State Duma,” wrote Vyacheslav Volodin. 

He added that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky “continue to ignore the Minsk Agreements, while NATO aims to occupy Ukraine”. “Such actions could lead to tragedy. We should prevent it,” wrote Vyacheslav Volodin. 

“It is obvious that the solutions aimed at ensuring safety of our citizens and compatriots living in DPR and LPR should be found,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
