“There is no reason to continue our work at the organization which ignores the rules of procedures and common sense,” stressed the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Petr Tolstoy

“The Russian delegation will not continue to attend the OSCE PA session in Vienna. The Assembly has included on the agenda another outrageous anti-Russian statement, predictably initiated by our angry neighbors from Ukraine. The resolution violated the regulations, as the adoption of the document requires 2/3 of the votes of all members of the Assembly, and not of those parliamentarians who were in the hall at the current moment,” stressed Petr Tolstoy Tolstoy Petr Olegovich Tolstoy

He added that “any statement violating the regulations is null and void. It will not be taken into account and will not even be discussed.”

Petr Tolstoy recalled another precedent when ex-the President of the Assembly Giorgi Tsereteli grossly violated the regulations. The Russian parliamentarians also left the conference hall then.

“This time there is also no reason to continue our work at the session of the organization which ignores the rules of procedures and common sense,” said the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.

The situation around Belarus

“We protest this forum for retaliation which the OSCE PA started against Belarus. The OSCE PA members discuss the situation in Belarus, while the representatives of this state were not allowed to attend the session, as there was a decision to deny visas at the request of Poland. The “accused” were not given the opportunity to address the members at the plenary session, where this disgusting politicized process started, they are not even allowed to say something remotely,” said Petr Tolstoy.

He said that “such situation only undermines the credibility of this large international organization, and makes its decisions illegitimate”.

Earlier, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma called the decision not to allow the Belarusian representative to attend the OSCE PA session “an unprecedented scandal”.
