“It is impossible to receive
money and be independent at the same time. Czech Republic, Ukraine, Georgia and the Baltic states are too predictable in their attempts to assert themselves. Each
statement begins with political issues ends with 'we need money',” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin

Vyacheslav Victorovich
The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
in his Telegram channel.
He noted the fact that when those states were part of the Socialist Eastern Europe, they got accustomed to live at the expense of others, and they continue to live like that.
“It would not have been that way if they had real sovereignty and independence, not just words. But they have made their choice to be satellite states,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
He recalled that “Ukraine was afraid to lose earnings from the Russian gas transit, and now demands monetary compensation for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline by the Russian side. The Czech Republic, using far-fetched accusations in Russia’s involvement in Vrbětice ammunition warehouses explosions, just tried to curry favor with the master — the United States, and now it wants 40 million euros”.
He added that the Baltic states were doing the same: they had failed to solve their own economic problems, and demanded ”compensation“ for the Soviet period.
“Policy is not a social welfare office. It is impossible to receive money and be independent at the same time. It does not work like that,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
“Russia does not owe you, but you owe Russia. You should be grateful: the citizens of the Russian Federation did not ask you to pay back for all those things they gave you to their detriment. Employment had been created, there had been investment in your development, we had been protecting you from external challenges and threats,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma and noted the fact that Russia had assumed all the USSR debt repayment obligations.
“They have no conscience, but there should be moderation in all things. You should remember that a Russian man harnesses the horse slowly but drives fast. It would be right if they apologized to Russia. And start building relations thinking about the future. Stop blaming Russia for all your problems. You should start with your states” said Viacheslav Volodin.
“You have been building independent states for 30 years. Do not fool yourself and others,” he concluded.
