Viacheslav Volodin: European states need to stop using double standards and start saving lives

The Chairman of the State Duma expressed disagreement with the decision of the PACE Standing Committee. “European countries need to stop using double standards and start saving lives. The European parliamentarians do not care about the large number of victims of the pandemic and the battered economies,” said Viacheslav Volodin

“The decisions taken by Russian authorities have saved many lives and helped support the country's economy. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same about the actions of a number of European countries.

If we take the measures they propose, we will not save our citizens. It is especially worrying that they make their recommendations using the pretext of respecting human rights, while violating them in their own countries. First of all, the right to life, but we see the number of people died in Europe. The right to freedom of movement faced challenges as hundreds of thousands of people experience difficulties because of the closed borders. That is why there are serious demands people put before the governments at numerous protests in European cities,” said Viacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

“It would be right if the Council of Europe learned from Russia's experience in combating the pandemic. The vaccine developed in Russia is one of the effective measures to counter coronavirus. We see a great demand for it in many countries.

The reluctance of European colleagues to build relations on the principles of mutual respect and not to use double standards turns the citizens of their countries into hostages of such a policy,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
