The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
will pay a working visit to the Republic of Armenia to participate in the events of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective
Security Treaty Organization.
It is planned that the Chairman of the State Duma will hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Assembly.
On November 5, Viacheslav Volodin will hold the 12th plenary session of the CSTO PA.
The meeting of the CSTO PA Council was held on 20 May 2019 in Bishkek. The parliamentarians discussed the situation in the regions adjacent to the Organization’s area of responsibility, measures to counter the challenges and threats to collective security, as well as harmonization of the legislation of the CSTO member states.
At the meeting, Viacheslav Volodin made a proposal to hold the next meeting of the CSTO PA Council and the 12th plenary meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly this fall in Yerevan. He emphasized that “the retreat format of our meetings, on the one hand, increases the effectiveness of inter-parliamentary cooperation, and on the other hand, enables parliaments to talk more about their priorities.” “It would be right to expand the geography of our meetings, organizing their rotation among the CSTO member states, developing the practice of a retreat format,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
The eleventh plenary session of the CSTO PA was held in Moscow on 30 October 2018.
