During the meeting, Li Zhanshu noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping ”brought relations between our countries into a new era.“ The cooperation between the Russian Federation and China, as he said, is high-quality cooperation in various fields.
“Our relations can rightly be called a pattern of building good neighborly relations and harmonious coexistence,” he stressed and proposed to strengthen inter-parliamentary interaction and develop contacts in the digital economy and to enhance scientific and technical cooperation to reach the new goals set by the heads of our states.
“We need to intensify and increase contacts in the economy, science, innovation, culture, tourism, healthcare, and sports. But I would like to highlight high technology and innovation. Russia has strong grounds and potential in scientific and technological developments, if we talk about the latest technologies, especially applied technology, Russia is among the world leaders,” Li Zhanshu said. He stressed that it is necessary to achieve swift development in this area.
He also emphasized the possibility and need for cooperation in the space sector, as Russia has great experience in it.
According to Li Zhanshu, another important point is inter-regional cooperation: “If each region has three or five joint projects, the extent of cooperation between our countries would be great.”
The Chairman of the State Duma supported the proposal of his Chinese counterpart and noted that it is necessary to create all conditions for such interaction and discuss specific formats for cooperation.
“These are the issues that require new approaches, especially when the world is changing, technologies are developing, and it would be right for us to ensure this development in legislation,” he said.
