noted that trade turnover
increased by almost 20% in 2018.
“This year, we also see the growth, we have reached $ 108 billion in trade, and we plan to reach $ 200 billion by 2024. These are the goals set by the leaders of our countries,” he said and noted the special role of the heads of the states in the development of relations between Russia and China.
“We consider it right that through the parliamentary dimension, through the capabilities of lawmakers, we can do everything to ensure the development of our trade and economic relations. This is one of the topics that we will discuss in the framework of the bilateral inter-parliamentary commission, and we believe that these tasks should also unite us,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
Special nature of the relationship
This is the first official visit to Russia of Li Zhanshu in a new position, as Viacheslav Volodin said. He emphasized that relations between our countries are of a special nature and go beyond diplomatic contacts, and also recalled that this year is 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic contacts between our states.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma, the backbone of the interaction between the legislative bodies of the Russian Federation and the the People's Republic of China is the Russian-Chinese Inter-parliamentary Commission, where lawmakers can discuss a huge number of various issues. On Thursday, the results of the Commission’s work held on September 25–26 will be summarized. Viacheslav Volodin noted that the participants worked productively.
“We hope that the dynamics of inter-parliamentary contacts
will increase, this is extremely important for us,” he stressed. He also spoke
in favour of harmonization of the laws of Russia and China and creation of model laws.
