to investigate foreign meddling in the election campaign in Russia. The first deputy head of the United Russia faction Andrey Isaev

told
parliamentary journalists about that.
“The United Russia faction considers that the proposal […] to investigate foreign meddling in the elections in our country and Russia's internal political affairs, to create a special inter-faction commission for this, should be supported,” he said.
Also, according to Andrey Isaev, the faction supported the initiative of colleagues to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Council of the State Duma to discuss the issue of the formation of an inter-faction commission.
“We all remember well that Russia has been repeatedly accused of interfering in the elections in the United States of America, investigations took place in some European countries, but convincing evidence has not been presented. Therefore, we believe that we have both legal and moral basis for the Russian Parliament to conduct its investigation of interference in our internal affairs,” the parliamentarian emphasized.
“We will conduct a public, open parliamentary investigation, which will involve experts, specialists, interested departments, and we will present the result of this investigation to the public. We believe that this issue is necessary to deal,” Andrey Isaev concluded.
Earlier, the head of the CPRF faction Gennady Zyuganov proposed to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Council of the State Duma on August 19.
