“The actions of the Georgian authorities during the session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy contradict the rules of organizing international events. The venue and organization of the IAO session were agreed by the Georgian side in advance. And Georgia, as the organizing country, is responsible for both holding an important international forum, and for the safety of its participants. These conditions were simply ignored; they could neither ensure the holding of the event nor protect the Russian delegation from attacks and threats. The demarche of radical forces is directed not only against representatives of Russia but of all 25 countries of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy. Thus the meeting and discussion of issues important for the organization were disrupted.

The statements of the Georgian authorities that followed the attack on the Russian delegation cast doubts on their adequacy and ability to be a responsible international partner.”
