He recalled that current data on losses from a decline in trade with Russia had recently been released. According to it, Ukraine for all this time has lost 13 times more.

“They hoped that an increase in trade with European countries would compensate for the damage from the break of cooperation ties with Russia, but this, of course, had not and could not happen,” said the Chairman of the Committee.

Leonid Slutskiy stressed that all Russian sanctions against Ukraine were triggered by the anti-Russian policy of the current authorities in Kiev, but, paradoxically, Moscow still remains one of its main trading partners.

“Therefore, the restoration of full-fledged economic relations with Russia, first of all, is in the interest of Ukraine and its people. This would be beneficial in terms of filling the country's budget, creating new jobs, and increasing salaries and pensions. I hope that the newly elected President Vladimir Zelensky is aware of this and understands it,” the parliamentarian concluded.
