The parliamentarian reminded that Russia had made great efforts to relieve tensions over the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula for many years.
“We do not support Pyongyang’s self-proclaimed nuclear status but we believe that this issue should and can only be resolved by political and diplomatic means,” the parliamentarian reminded and noted that the six-party negotiations were one of the effective tools. He believes that ‘it would be useful to return to this format.’
At the same time, the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs believes that the problems of the North Korean settlement cannot be given away at the mercy of the United States.
“I believe that Russia, China, Japan, and South Korea together can have a serious and constructive influence on the situation,” Leonid Slutskiy concluded.
