The parties looked forward to further intensification of inter-parliamentary cooperation and also discussed preparations for the Fourth Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’
Parliaments.

The Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan stressed: “Probably, it should not be repeated, the whole world knows that Russia is the most important strategic partner of Kazakhstan because of the effective work based on the personal friendship of (former) President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin.”
As he said, “the recent change of political leadership of Kazakhstan will not affect the nature of our good neighborly relations,” the first foreign visit of the new President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Russia that has been held recently proves that.
He stressed that Kazakhstan will continue to implement all previous agreements, including trade, economic, cultural, inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Nurlan Nigmatulin also informed about the preparations for the Fourth Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments, which will be held on September 23–24 in the capital of Kazakhstan Nur-Sultan.
“Preparation and all the work is underway at the level of the top leadership of our country,” Nurlan Nigmatulin said.
Thus, 84 invitations have already been sent and 60 countries preliminary confirmed their participation, 27 of them will be represented by heads of parliaments. In addition, 16 international organizations will attend the Meeting.
Viacheslav Volodin stressed that “relations between our countries are dynamically developing, our Presidents do a lot for this”.
“As you rightly said, it should be noted that the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, played a huge role in it,” he added.
The Chairman of the State Duma added that inter-parliamentary ccooperation is developing more dynamically than ever: on May 20, the countries will take part in the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, and then in the International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism” that will be held in Moscow.
“Then the Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan. It is extremely important for us to continue holding this format, taking into account that many countries are interested a lot in it,” Viacheslav Volodin said.
“Our partnership is based on history. We should devote greater attention to communication because trust is based on dialogue,” the Chairman of the State Duma noted.
The official visit of the delegation of the State Duma headed by Viacheslav Volodin to Doha takes place on April 6–7. The Chairman of the State Duma will take part in the events of the 140th IPU Assembly and will deliver a speech at the plenary session. He will also hold several bilateral meetings.
