The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
told this to parliamentary journalists after a meeting of the State Duma Council on December 3.
“We started the Council of the State Duma by discussing this issue, and opinion was unanimous: we need to adopt an appeal to the parliaments of European countries, to inter-parliamentary structures and explain the situation, what actually happened [in Ukraine]. Because today we see that the European parliaments are hostages of the propaganda that is going on,” he said, adding that the pressure is similar to the situation with the “Skripals case”.
“There is no truthful information. It is our duty to inform the parliaments of European countries, the national parliaments of Asian countries what really happen. We believe that this is a provocation, a planned provocation, and President of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko stands behind it,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
Viacheslav Volodin believes that Petr Poroshenko uses this situation to preserve personal power and eliminate his political opponents, including by imposing martial law in those ten areas where he has the least support.
“We consider this an infringement of democratic values. We believe that this is unacceptable in a European home today, and our colleagues from European parliaments shall understand what they are talking about. Moreover, the imposed martial law, bringing the troops on alert puts not only Europe but the whole world on the eve of war,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
He also said that all political factions agreed that it was necessary to award Russian border guards, who resisted Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait.
”Our border guards behaved impeccably. They courageously, effectively solved the tasks of protecting our borders. They complied with all international norms and rules, and we would like representatives of other states to understand this. For our part, we instructed the Committee on Security and Corruption Control to consider awarding border guards who were involved in preventing violations of our border and protecting the rule of law.”
According to Viacheslav Volodin, Vasilii Piskarev
