noted that the provocation in the Kerch Strait was aimed at disrupting the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump at the G20 summit in Argentina.

“The cancellation of a meeting with [Vladimir] Putin by [Donald] Trump is another Twitter anti-diplomacy, such a kind of PR move again, for sure, forced through by Russia's opponents inside the United States. I believed that the meeting would take place at least in a time-truncated format. But this is [Donald] Trump's own decision, which is fully in line with the anti-Russian policy. And it is obvious that a provocation in the Kerch Strait was realized for him as well as for clearing the pre-election field for the President of Ukraine [Petr] Poroshenko,” the head of the Committee on the International Affairs said.

“This is a pity, as the meeting could be very useful. For the second time in a row, the leaders of Russia and the United States will meet on the one international platform, but again they will not be able to hold bilateral negotiations. But, nevertheless, let’s not be upset. Perhaps some kind of compromise will be found,” said the member of the State Duma.

He also added that “Russia is a self-sufficient country. If there is no meeting, it is still unknown who will lose. ”
