Viacheslav Volodin noted that in ten Ukrainian regions, where martial law was introduced after this provocation, ”Poroshenko has the least support and the largest number of critics.“
Thus, the acting head of the Republic wants to enter the election campaign with the “cleaned-up” opposition in order to have at least some opportunity to win the election, the Chairman of the State Duma summarized.
The attempt of the provocation was stopped thanks to our Russian border guards: they did not allow a conflict that could lead to victims to take place, Viacheslav Volodin reminded.
The State Duma is going to convey the truth about what really happened in the Kerch Strait to the international community.
“We will talk about this both in the State Duma and on inter-parliamentary platforms,” said the Chairman of the State Duma, adding that “based on the mandate of the inter-parliamentary organization, which should address these issues, first of all, we intend to appeal to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly”.
Members of the State Duma are also going to convey their position to the national parliaments of European countries during personal contacts.
“European parliamentarians should receive objective information,” said Viacheslav Volodin. “Often, our fellow parliamentarians are hostages of those provocations that have already been implemented against Russia more than once.”
“Ukraine is geographically a European state, but adheres to the norms of uncivilized societies,” he noted.
The Chairman of the State Duma did not rule out that the State Duma would adopt a statement regarding the situation in the Kerch Strait at a plenary session. According to him, on Monday, December 3, this topic will be discussed at the Council of the State Duma.
“Then, perhaps, we will come up with a solution that will allow us to convey truth to our partners from parliaments of other countries,” added Viacheslav Volodin.
