Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs believes that the US administration is ready to use any excuse to restrain Russia and aggressively promote its own interests.

”The intention to impose sanctions connected to the Skripals case without any evidence, which have not been presented yet, is another manifestation of an angry Russophobe hysteria,“ he said. ”Moreover, this line indirectly confirms the assumptions of a number of experts that Washington could be the ideological inspirer of the orchestrated anti-Russian provocation initiated by London in connection to what happened in Salisbury,“ the member of the State Duma added.

By imposing sanctions connected to the Skripals case, the United States will turn the entire system of international law into an absurd theater, turning to ashes such concepts as ”evidence base“ and ”presumption of innocence,“ the Committee Chairman believes.

”Unfortunately, there are fewer reasonable and constructive politicians in the United States,“ he said.

”We will continue to work with those who have not yielded to collective madness, and try to restore a dialogue,“ Leonid Slutskiy Slutsky Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky

”As for the Russian possible reaction, this is traditionally the prerogative of the executive power. I am sure that with this development of events an adequate response will be given. Legislators have provided the whole range of legal measures for this, having adopted a law on counter-sanctions in the spring plenary session,“ the parliamentarian concluded.
