The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Phạm Minh Chính in the State Duma. The meeting
participants discussed issues of further development of bilateral cooperation
and the necessary legislative basis for this purpose.
Vyacheslav Volodin stressed that the strengthening of cooperation with Vietnam is one of Russia’s priorities in Asian region. “Vietnam is our long-time reliable partner of our country,” he added.
The Chairman of the State Duma noted the great contribution of leaders of both states to the development of bilateral cooperation. “Our goal is to provide the necessary legislative support to implement the decisions reached between our heads of states – leaders of Vietnam and Russia, and as well as at the level of intergovernmental treaties and agreements,” said Vyacheslav Voldoin.
He also noted the dynamic development of inter-parliamentary dimension and recalled that there had been created the Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma and the National Assembly which meets on a regular basis. “We are doing everything possible to make our communications even greater,” added the Chairman of the State Duma.
According to him, the bilateral trade reached 6.3 billion dollars. “The number of tourists is growing, as they prefer to choose Vietnam as their destination for vacation, last year there were about 690 thousand people. And this is not the limit,” he said.
Vyacheslav Volodin also noted a great potential for development of relations between Russia and Vietnam. “We should use it in developing our relations,” he stressed.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma, it is also important to develop humanitarian, educational and scientific cooperation.
Phạm Minh Chính supported Vyacheslav Volodin and expressed confidence in further strengthening of partnership and cooperation in all areas. He called the Chairman of the State Duma “a close friend of Vietnam”.
“I would like to reaffirm once again that all these sincere feelings of our people, the Communist party and the state of Vietnam that we show to Russia will always stay unchangeable,” said Phạm Minh Chính and recalled that friendship has deep roots and it started in the period of Vietnam’s struggle for independence when the Soviet Union supported Vietnam.
