The issue of the inadmissibility
of EU officials' actions regarding frozen Russia’s assets in Europe was raised at the plenary meeting on Tuesday. According to media reports, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen sent a letter to EU member states with
official proposals for the expropriation of Russia’s assets. According to Andrey Makarov
Andrey Mikhailovich
, Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Taxes, “the words of the EC leaders speak about a direct call to confiscate assets, the real theft of our property.”
“In this situation, we must fully understand the existing risks, understand and calculate the consequences, and plan our further actions. This is particularly important when we are discussing the budget,” added Andrey Makarov.
The Chairman of the State
Duma Vyacheslav Volodin
Vyacheslav Victorovich
The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
noted the importance of taking all the possible
measures to protect the country, its property, and its finances, which are
located in other countries, in accordance with international treaties.
“We need to develop retaliatory measures. In this regard, we should prepare an appeal to the Government of the Russian Federation so that it will develop measures — reciprocal measures, I emphasize — that we should take if our assets are stolen and then give some strange excuses for that, with completely unfounded actions. We will discuss this at the State Duma meeting on Thursday,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
“Those who infringe on our property are thieves, crooks, and these actions cannot be described any other way. Why do they use the European Union to cover up their actions? Because many national parliaments and states do not want to be involved in this theft,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
According to him, politicians like von der Leyen and the decisions they make will not bring any good for Europe. “We must emphasize this and say it specifically to the sovereign states, if there are any left. Because in the future, they will have to pay everything back with interest, and they should understand this,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
