The State Duma ratified two intergovernmental agreements on military cooperation—with the Republic of Cuba and the Togolese Republic.

The explanatory materials say that ratification of the agreement with Cuba will facilitate the development and strengthening of military cooperation between the two countries, provide the necessary legal basis for defining the objectives, areas, and forms of bilateral military cooperation, and ensure the protection of the interests of Russian citizens performing activity within the framework of this agreement.

The agreement with Togo, in turn, defines the main areas and forms of cooperation with the Russian Federation. It regulates the procedures for financing, exchange, conditions, and measures for protecting confidential information, the provision of medical care, application of the laws of the Parties, jurisdiction, and legal protection.

In particular, Russia and Togo will participate in joint military exercises and train and prepare military personnel.
