held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Russian Federation Jesús Rafael Salazar Velázquez.

The meeting participants highly appreciated the current level and prospects of friendly relations between Russia and Venezuela and noted the importance of joint efforts aimed at deepening bilateral ties through the strategic partnership.

Jesús Rafael Salazar Velázquez outlined in detail the current military and political situation around Venezuela and told about the US actions that imposed a maritime blockade of the country.

According to the Ambassador, Washington's policy is aimed at overthrowing the legitimate government of Venezuela and establishing control over the country's rich natural resources.

In this regard, the meeting participants expressed solidarity in countering Western military-political and financial-economic pressure.

Both sides noted the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation as part of bilateral interaction and discussed the possibility of holding a meeting of the Russia-Venezuela and Venezuela-Russia parliamentary friendship groups via videoconference in the near future.

The meeting, as usual, was held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding.
