On September 21, 2025, the event on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and Victory in World War II was held in Moscow State Pedagogical University.

The goal of the event, organized with the support of the Embassy of China in Moscow, was to preserve the memory of the events of World War II, develop a proper understanding among the younger generation, and strengthen the friendship between China and Russia.
Speaking about the significance of the Victory, Ivan Melnikov emphasized: “For Russia and China, this is not just a historical date. This is a sacred milestone that reminds us of the price paid for freedom and peace, and the importance of mutual support in the darkest hour.”
“It is symbolic and politically significant that on May 9, the President of China Xi Jinping was the chief guest of honor at the large-scale celebrations on Red Square in Moscow, and that several days ago, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin visited China and took part in the magnificent parade on Tiananmen Square,” stressed the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.
Concluding his speech, Ivan Melnikov talked about the future of Russia-China relations: “Nowadays, the protection of historical truth and passing down our friendship forged in the fire of World War II is our absolute priority. Please try to join this work and make your own contribution. Our countries won together. We preserve our memory together. We are building the future together. And this is the strength of Russia-China friendship.”
The Ambassador of China to Russia said: “Our nations paid a terrible price for independence and freedom, for the protection of human rights and world peace. Fighting together, supporting each other, they sacrificed their lives for peace, created a solid foundation for the unbreakable friendship between China and Russia.”
