of China Xi Jinping in Beijing.
Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed warm words of greetings and good wishes from the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
The Chairman of the State Duma also informed about the tenth meeting of the Inter-parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People's Congress of China, which is being held in Beijing.
“It is important for us to do everything to provide legislative assistance to implement the decisions taken at the level of heads of states. And this is exactly what was discussed at the meeting of our inter-parliamentary commission,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin. “We are considering relevant issues on the agenda for the development of relations between the two states,” he added.
One of the issues discussed at the Commission’s meeting was the protection of historical memory. Vyacheslav Volodin separately noted the contribution of the Chinese people to the victory in World War II.
“We, together with China, mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. We know how difficult this victory was. It is very important for us to remember the victors, those who sacrificed their lives so that we could develop today and plan our future. It was reached at the cost of enormous losses of our people and they did everything to win freedom and independence,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.
“I would like to express words of gratitude for the attention paid in China to the historical memory, our burials, memorials to Soviet soldiers and officers,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
Xi Jinping noted the contribution of Vyacheslav Volodin and members of the State Duma “to the development of China-Russia relations and bilateral cooperation,” which “the Chinese side highly appreciates.” “We should continue the traditional friendship between our countries, improve exchanges and interaction at the level of legislative bodies and in other areas,” emphasized the President of the People’s Republic of China.
In addition, he highly appreciated the results of the meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission. “The legislative bodies of the two countries cooperate very closely to implement the agreements. You are also making a great contribution to the development of bilateral relations. Thank you for your work,” said Xi Jinping.
Next week, China will widely celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the end of World War II, as recalled the President of the People’s Republic of China.
“China and the USSR were the main theaters of military operations in Asia and Europe and made the major contribution to the Victory in World War II,” he stressed.
Vyacheslav Volodin and the Russian parliamentary delegation are paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China. Earlier, Vyacheslav Volodin met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji.
