The tenth meeting of the Inter-parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People's Congress of China was held in Beijing.
The parliamentarians discussed issues related to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various areas — economics, tourism, culture, education, science, etc., as well as exchanging experience to counter sanctions, foreign interference, and protecting historical truth about World War II.

interaction — from politics and economics to humanitarian contracts,”

Protection of common history
“Global turbulence forces us to consider in a special way the issues that we are discussing today. In conditions of such extremely complex processes in the world, it is necessary to join efforts of Russia and China. We agreed to work together on international platforms, stand for a multipolar world, protect the opportunity to develop, and determine our own future,” Ivan Melnikov said following the meeting.
This year is very special for the Russian and Chinese people — the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and Victory of the Chinese people in the War of Resistance against Japanese aggression, as well as the end of World War II, so the issues of protecting historical memory were the main issues for discussion at the meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission, as said the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.
“It is necessary to unite the efforts of our scientists, public figures, parliamentarians, youth and women's organizations. This is exactly what we talked about, that humanitarian cooperation and cooperation between youth organizations are necessary to protect historical memory,” he added.

that preserves the confidence of any state in its future. There is something

According to the parliamentarian, work on protecting historical memory will be permanent and will be aimed at uniting our nations and “explaining to all those who are trying to destroy the world order today, who are trying to impose unipolarity, including by imposing sanctions, to hinder the development of countries, that such things are tools of the past.”
“It is in relations between Russia and China, a new view is being formed, a new system of relations is being created, which is based on respect for each other, the creation of conditions for joint development. And this development is not limited only to culture, economics, this is the real development of our nations, but it is also necessary to take into account the opinions of everyone else,” emphasized Alexander Babakov.
New formats of cooperation
“Our cooperation is on the rise. Starting from September, we plan to hold joint meetings of the international
affairs committees of the State Duma and the National People's Congress every
month. Such close system of interaction in dozens of significant infrastructure
areas of cooperation between Russia and China proves the demand for the parliamentary diplomacy dimension,” said Leonid Slutsky

The previous ninth meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission was held in Moscow on July 10, 2024. The issues of developing socio-economic and humanitarian cooperation, and interaction between the two countries in the field of security were discussed at the meeting.
The Chairman of the State Duma and the Russian parliamentary delegation are paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China.
