The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with Chairman of Shura Council of the Kingdom
of Bahrain Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh.
The chairmen discussed relevant issues of development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Russia and Bahrain. In particular, they discussed the creation of a legislative basis for active economic cooperation between the two states, enhancement of humanitarian ties and cooperation in the field of tourism.
Vyacheslav Volodin noted the traditionally friendly nature of relations between the two countries and the contribution of the leaders of Russia and Bahrain to their development. “For our part, we should do everything to provide legislative support to the decisions taken at the level of heads of states,” he said.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma, it is important to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation based on “the principles of the absence of double standards, non-interference in the sovereign affairs of independent states and friendship.”
Addressing Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh, Vyacheslav Volodin noted his extensive professional parliamentary and executive experience. “The combination of these facts from your biography will help us enhance cooperation between our parliaments,” he said. Vyacheslav Volodin considers the joint work with Bahraini colleagues at the level of specialized committees as an important aspect in this matter.
Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh supported the Chairman of the State Duma and noted the qualitatively high level of relations between the two countries. According to him, Bahrain values friendship with Russia and considers the exchange of experience between parliamentarians useful.
“Relations between our countries are historically traditionally strong and continue to develop every day,” said the Chairman of Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain. “You have a great history, a great experience. As legislators, we will seek to adopt a legislative framework and take any other necessary measures to develop our relations,” he added.
Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh also noted the fact that despite Western sanctions, the Russian economy had survived and the country continues developing successfully. “It is not you who need the world, but the world needs you,” he said.
