Shamsail Yunusovich
held a meeting
with the delegation of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand headed
by the Chair of the Executive Committee of Friendship Group on Cooperation with
the Russian Federation at the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand Pratum
Wongsawat.
Issues of international relations, potential for cooperation between Russia and Thailand in trade, investment, tourism, political and economic issues were discussed at the meeting. The issues of cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, space, agriculture and food production, and cooperation in the field of information technology and artificial intelligence were also raised during the discussion.
“I told my Thai colleagues that the State Duma, as part of inter-parliamentary cooperation, has created and uses parliamentary friendship groups on cooperation with parliaments of foreign countries. They are created to maintain contacts with colleagues, members of parliaments of foreign countries, for joint cooperation and strengthening ties,” said Shamsail Saraliev following the meeting.
According to him, together with his colleagues, they agreed that “the State Duma and the Parliament of Thailand should build closer relations to establish cooperation in various areas.”
“I proposed to establish cooperation between the twin towns in Russian regions and regions of Thailand. Such towns can establish permanent friendly relations and can help learn more about life, history and culture, and facilitate mutual exchange of experience in many areas,” added Shamsail Saraliev.
The parliamentarian also drew attention to the development of tourism and raised the issue of possible usage of Russian MIR bank cards in Thailand.
“Another important topic for discussion was the issue raised by the Thai side about the need to study the Russian language in Thai schools, about the creation of Russian Centers for studying the Russian language in Thailand and Thai Centers in Russia,” the parliamentarian said. “Strong diplomatic relations have been established between Russia and Thailand, and they have been built and developed on the principles of mutual respect,” he added.
Shamsail Saraliev recalled that this January, Thailand joined BRICS as a partner country, “and that definitely provides significant opportunities in strengthening economic ties with the members of the association and expands the opportunities of our countries to participate in the formation of a new world order.”
“Russia has stood and still stands for a multipolar world, for a system of international relations where no single state could have a decision-making monopoly in world politics,” concluded the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs.
