The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with the President of the Presidential
Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi.
Russia and Yemen had a long history of mutually beneficial cooperation, as emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin and expressed hope for its further strengthening: “Your visit and meeting with the members of the State Duma will become a good foundation for development of relations in various formats, including within the parliamentary dimension,” he said. According to him, all political factions of the State Duma support strengthening ties with Yemen, by building them on the principles of openness and friendship, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
“We are convinced that the world should be multipolar, just, and we build our relations on these principles,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
Speaking about the inter-parliamentary dimension, Vyacheslav Volodin also noted readiness of parliamentarians to share their lawmaking experience on issues of interest to their Yemeni colleagues.
Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi thanked Russia for its continued support of his country. According to him, the Soviet Union, and then Russia, have always been, a “beacon in the cultural and political spheres” for Yemenis.
“The relations between the people of Russia and Yemen are distinguished by deep friendly ties. The State Duma has always used the principles of justice in its activity. This principle is deeply rooted in Russia and its people,” emphasized the President of the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen.
He assured that the Yemeni side will also do everything to develop relations in various fields.
