“Brussels is purposely
trying to deprive the Soviet Union of its deserved status as a victorious
country, to sow discord and divide our nations, whose fathers and grandfathers
fought shoulder to shoulder against the brown plague. European officials do
that to justify the atrocities of the fascists, their own ideological
inspirers, and, as a result, they are promoting Russophobia,” said the Chairman
of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin
Vyacheslav Victorovich
The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
.
He noted that for the same purposes, Europe is trying to get rid of the symbols of Victory, military graves and memorials, depriving people of the opportunity to objectively assess the events of the past.
“If they use such methods, that means that there are weak leaders holing power in European countries. They are afraid of the truth. The views of the leaders of the anti-Hitler coalition states on our country during the most difficult years of the war – Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle – were completely different,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma also quoted the famous political figures of that time in his Telegram channel:
- In 1942, US President Roosevelt said: “Russian forces have destroyed, and are destroying more armed power of our enemies — troops, planes, tanks, and guns — than all the other United Nations put together.”
- The head of the French government, de Gaulle, said almost the same in 1944: “The Soviet Russia using the immense efforts of its magnificent armies and its people is saving the world.”
- On the eve of the Great Victory, in 1945, the UK Prime Minister Churchill expressed his “boundless admiration” for the Red Army: “Future generations will acknowledge their debt to the Red Army as unreservedly as do we who have lived to witness these proud achievements”.
