And another popular politician, the head of Gagauzia in Moldova, Evghenia Guțul, who did not support the course towards European integration, was arrested on the eve of her re-election to the parliament.
“A political system based on the democratic principles of competition and the expression of the will of citizens, as well as rights and freedoms, has become a thing of the past in Europe,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
“Nowadays, the most popular politicians in Germany, France, Romania, Moldova, are being prosecuted, and their parties are being banned. European states are turning into totalitarian regimes led by unpopular politicians and parties,” he concluded.
