The installation dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War tells about the feat of the multinational Soviet people who defeated the fascists, and the contribution of the Soviet republics to the Victory.

The main events of the International Forum “Great Heritage — Common Future” will be held tomorrow, on April 29.

During the days of war, Mamayev Kurgan was the site of the heaviest and bloodiest battles. It was a key position in the defense of the city. Crossings, industrial facilities, the railway station, the river port, the Volga and territories behind Volga, where reserves, military and hospitals of the Soviet troops were located at that time could be easily seen from there. More than 36 units and formations of the Red Army took part in the battles at Height 102, as this place was called then.

34,505 soldiers — defenders of Stalingrad are buried in the mass grave at Mamayev Kurgan. Along the road leading to the monument “The Motherland Calls” – the main symbol of the hero city – 37 granite slabs with the names of Heroes of the Soviet Union, participants in the Battle of Stalingrad have been installed there.
