The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with the Speaker of the Grand National
Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmuş. They discussed current
issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Russia and Türkiye.
The dialogue between the two countries is developing dynamically on the principles of respect and trust, according to Vyacheslav Volodin. “Our relations are developing in accordance with the agreements, signed contracts, as well as interpersonal relations between the leaders of our states. And we, for our part, should do everything possible to ensure the legislative implementation of these decisions,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
Vyacheslav Volodin recalled that there was created a high-level inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation between the State Duma and the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
“I would like to ask the new Turkish parliament to consider the possibility of prolonging the work of the Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, so that we would be able to continue to implement the existing agreements and this format is an effective form of support for those decisions that should be implemented now,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.

In addition, Vyacheslav Volodin and Numan Kurtulmuş discussed the issues related to holding the Conference of Speakers of the Parliaments on Countering Terrorism and Strengthening Regional Connectivity. According to the Chairman of the State Duma, a meeting in this format could be held in 2025 in Moscow. The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament supported the proposal.
Vyacheslav Volodin also noted that Türkiye “is among three Russia's leading trading partners”. “Trade relations between our countries, despite changes and various difficulties, are developing. Tourism also has great potential, and it is developing and strengthening every year,” added the Speaker of the Parliament of Türkiye.
“The current world order is changing: we are moving towards multipolar relations, and it should be considered as a normal and natural order of things. And in this regard, BRICS will serve as a very convenient platform from both an economic and political point of view. I would like to say that we attach great importance to this organization and really hope to take part in it,” emphasized Numan Kurtulmuş.
The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye invited Vyacheslav Volodin and the delegation of the State Duma to pay an official visit to Türkiye.
