“Washington and Brussels have done everything to break the international economic relations that had been developing over decades. Their policy of sanctions and trade wars has led to the formation of new growth points in the world,” posted the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the United States, trying to protect its hegemony, interfering in the internal affairs of other states, using double standards, has created a situation where many states have chosen the path of protecting sovereignty, equal dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation.

“Over the 15 years of its existence, BRICS has become one of the largest economic centers. At the same time, its participants, despite the challenges and sanctions, improved their positions (according to the recent updated World Bank data for 2023),” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.

The Chairman of the State Duma recalled that Russia became the fourth largest economy in the world at purchasing power parity and remains the number one economy in Europe. “China is the first in the ranking, India – the third. Brazil became the seventh economy. The top 25 also includes several new BRICS members: Egypt (17), Saudi Arabia (18), Iran (22),” he added.

As for the economies of Western countries, their positions have weakened due to illegal sanctions and trade wars launched by them, according to Vyacheslav Volodin. “The United States, having fallen to second place, has failed to get back its previous position for a number of years. Germany has fallen out of the top 5, France and Britain are almost ready to leave the top 10,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.

“The share of the BRICS states of global GDP at PPP increased to 36.8% and now it is bigger than the share of the G7 (29%). This gap will only increase,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.

“Today is the first day of the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, together with colleagues from different countries we will discuss proposals and initiatives that should help improve the quality of life of citizens of the BRICS states,” concluded the Chairman of the State Duma.
